This training course will guide you through the principles of safe prescribing and demonstrate how to complete the National Standard Medication Charts correctly.
The course comprises of 5 modules:

- Optimising the use of the National Standard Medication Charts
- VTE prophylaxis and anticoagulation
- Medication safety at transitions of care
- Special Features of the Paediatric NIMC
Patient identification, adverse drug reactions and best possible medication history
This module introduces safe prescribing practices that should be followed when using the National Standard Medication Charts (NSMC).
Optimising the use of the National Standard Medication Charts
This module introduces more of the safety features of the National Standard Medication Charts (NSMC).
VTE prophylaxis and anticoagulation
This module introduces the safety features of the National Standard Medication Charts (NSMC) as they relate to venous thromboembolism (VTE) prophylaxis and use of other anticoagulants.
Medication safety at transitions of care
This module introduces safe prescribing practices that should be followed when using the National Standard Medication Charts (NSMC) especially at transitions of care such as hospital discharge or ward transfer.
Special features of the Paediatric NIMC
This module introduces safe prescribing practices that should be followed when using the Paediatric National Inpatient Medication Chart (Paediatric NIMC).
