Virtual educational visits now available from NPS MedicineWise
NPS MedicineWise is now delivering its free educational visiting service virtually via video call across Australia so health professionals can participate in these evidence-based educational activities without a face-to-face appointment.
CEO Adj A/Prof Steve Morris says the current and upcoming programs will continue to be delivered through the NPS MedicineWise field force of educational visitors.
“We recognise that the current situation with the COVID-19 pandemic is particularly challenging for primary care, however we also know health professionals will still be seeking educational opportunities to stay informed and up to date with the latest evidence and guidelines on a range of therapeutic areas,” said Mr Morris.
“Our latest topic Paediatric asthma: breathing new life into diagnosis and management provides clarity on the latest guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of paediatric asthma. It focusses on the differences between diagnosing and managing asthma in preschool and school-age children, and how treatment of children’s asthma differs from that of adults.
“We are also offering virtual visits on Opioids, chronic pain and the bigger picture,” he said.
Virtual visits are approved activities under the RACGP and ACRRM CPD programs. Pharmacists and practice nurses who participate in a small group meeting can record the virtual visit as a 1 hour CPD activity.
How virtual educational visits work
- The virtual visit can be carried out via a range of platforms, eg Skype, FaceTime, ZOOM, or another video conferencing option if preferred.
- Virtual visits can be scheduled as a 30-minute one-on-one discussion or one-hour small group meeting, at a time that suits – including before or after standard work hours.
- If a practice participates in MedicineInsight, their data will be presented in a practice report and used to customise the visit, providing richer insights into the topic and evidence. Non-participating practices will receive insights drawn from aggregated MedicineInsight clinical data.
