MedicineWise app: Important notice to android customers

From January 2022, the MedicineWise app will be ceasing support for Android devices running Android Operating System (AOS) 8 or lower.

From January 2022, the MedicineWise app will stop support for Android devices running Android Operating System (AOS) 8 or lower.

This means customers using Android devices running AOS 8 or lower will no longer be able to access new app updates from the Google Play store containing new product features and security updates, or receive troubleshooting and bug-fixing support - you will need to use a device that can run AOS 9 or higher.

 

Why is support ending for devices running AOS 8 or lower?

The MedicineWise app will be introducing newer product and security features that can only be supported by higher AOS.

Upgrading will reduce performance issues associated with running the MedicineWise app on devices with AOS 8 or lower, such as screen lag and app crashes, and will deliver a high-quality app experience for customers.

 

What action do I need to take?

Check your device Settings to see which AOS your device is running.

If your device currently runs AOS 8 or lower:

You will need to upgrade to AOS 9 or higher so you can access the latest MedicineWise app release from the Google Playstore when it is available from January 2022.

If you have an older Android device that cannot be upgraded to AOS 9 or higher:

You will need to switch to a new device and install the MedicineWise app on this. This will allow you to access the latest MedicineWise app release from the Google Playstore when it is available from January 2022.

If you currently use an Android device running AOS 9 or higher:

You will not need to modify your AOS. Simply download the latest MedicineWise app release from the Google Playstore when it is available from January 2022.

 

What happens if I don’t upgrade my device to run AOS 9 or higher?

We recommend that you upgrade your device to run AOS 9 or higher now, so you can access vital security updates and new MedicineWise app product features such as My Health Record connection from January 2022.

If you are unable to upgrade your device to AOS 9 or higher by January 2022, you can still continue to use older versions of the MedicineWise app (v3.4.5 or lower). However, please be aware that:

For customers using MedicineWise app version v3.4.5:

From March 2022, support for the version 3.4.5 of the MedicineWise app will be completely removed and you will no longer be able to access its data.

For customers using MedicineWise app version v3.4.4 or lower:

You will still be able to access the app past March 2022, but won’t have access to Google Playstore updates and ongoing technical support, or may experience app performance or product reliability issues as these versions of the app are not being actively maintained.
